What this fabric is

A dip-coated fibreglass sunscreen fabric with a 3% openness factor, woven from 165 tex yarn at 18 x 14 yarns per centimetre and coated with PVC on our own lines in Xintai, Tai'an. The coating is drawn into each yarn rather than laminated onto the surface, which is what keeps a cut edge clean under a crush or ultrasonic blade.

At a glance

Dip-coated, not laminated. Openness factor 3%. Weight 530 g/m2 (±10). Thickness 0.80 mm. 17 colours. Widths from 1600 mm to 3200 mm, with the widest roll available in every colour of the range.

Widths and roll lengths

Five widths. The 3200 mm width is available across all 17 colours, so most blind widths can be railroaded without changing seam direction. Roll length shortens at the two widest options.

Fabrication

Cutting: crush or ultrasonic blade. Welding: thermal, high frequency, ultrasonic, or sewing. Cleaning: lukewarm water with mild soap on a soft cloth.

Applications

Exterior roller blinds, zip-screen systems, facade shading, pergola and patio shading, conservatory blinds and balcony screens.

Ordering

Three details decide the roll: the colour code, the width and the quantity in rolls. Fire documentation is supplied with the order where the project requires it.
A4 swatch cards are free. Request a sample and we will send the colour cards and the technical data sheet.

Notes on these figures

Values are nominal for the range and are given as indicative, not as contractual limits. Weight carries a tolerance of +/-10 g/m2, and the swatch card is the colour reference for production. Where a test has not been carried out on this product, the row is omitted rather than estimated.

Documentation available on request

SGS fire reports to French M1 and US NFPA 701 Method 2, the ISO 1421 tensile report, and a REACH SVHC screening report. A full SVHC declaration can be provided on request.
We do not claim REACH certification; REACH is not a certification scheme. Where a substance above 0.1% is present, it is disclosed under Article 33.

How to specify this fabric

Three details decide the roll we make: the colour code, the width and the fire standard the project has to meet.

01 / Colour1

Quote the four-digit code

Colour names repeat across the range in different combinations, so the code is what we produce against. Every colour in the range is available at the full 3200 mm width.

1600, 1900, 2500, 2850 and 3200 mm. Roll length is 50 m as standard and shortens to 40 m at 2850 mm and 33 m at 3200 mm.

Name the standard, not the class

Specify French M1 (NF P 92-503) or US NFPA 701 Method 2 and we send the matching SGS report with the order. Both reports are for the fabric as supplied.

Construction

What dip coating changes at a cut edge.

PVC is drawn into each fiberglass yarn during coating, so the coating follows the weave instead of sitting on top of it. That is why a crush or ultrasonic cut leaves a clean edge on our fabric.

Composition

Fiberglass 42% / PVC 58%, 165 tex yarn, 18 x 14 yarns per centimetre.

Coating

PVC compounded in house and drawn into the yarn, not laminated as a film.

Fabrication

Cut with crush or ultrasonic blades. Weld thermally, by high frequency, ultrasonically or by sewing.

Product questions

Questions that come up before a first order

Samples, widths, documentation and packing. If something is missing, ask and we will answer with the source document.

Send the application and the fire standard the project requires, and we will reply with the specification that fits.

Product range

The other openness factor

Both ranges come off the same dip-coating lines with the same fire test programme behind them.
